Show me another »What type of mattress should I use on a platform bed.Can I use a regular spring mattress?
I am planning on buying a platform bed and a mattress. I do not like the concept of a box spring and a mattress.I was curious what type of mattress would be ideal for a platform bed.

you don't need the box spring if you have a platform, and you can use either a regular mattress or a foam mattress, depending on your budget and your preference.

- If you have a solid base, a regular mattress or even a foam one will work fine, just make sure there are air holes in the floor of the platform so the mattress can "breathe" otherwise you can get some mold and mildew on the bottom. (been there, made my own)
If the platform frame has slats, though, you will need to either use a box spring (foundation) or lay plywood over the slats to support the mattress--or you will find yourself folded up as the mattress falls through the slats.0% 0 Votes
