Are there any simple directions on how to make a platform bed? How many inches off of the floor are they?

I love woodwork, and I'm thinking of making my own platform bed, with a special paining design I have in mind. How many inches off of the floor are most platform beds? To my knowledge only a mattress is placed on top of the platform. It doesn't seem like it would be difficult to make at all.

you are correct. it is easy and here is how: they are usually 12" to 18" off the floor. also they sort of resemble a waterbed frame...if you understand that.? they usually have a easy framed box but inside is a tic tac toe effect of supports then a top usually in two pieces for transporting it. then mattress. but don't use more than a 2" overhange on any sides and if you want your mattress not to move during any night time activities attach a small 2" kicker plate at bottom of bed. easy too just 2x added at bed length to stop it from falling off!
